Mrs. Arias

Dear Sierra Vista Family:

It is with great excitement I write this letter of introduction as the newly appointed principal at Sierra Vista Elementary School. It is my privilege and honor to join the El Sereno community.  I am looking forward to an exciting year getting to know all of Sierra Vista’s students, parents and community members.

I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. I began my educational career 22 years ago in Japan as a junior high English classroom teacher. I taught grades 7th, 8th and 9th grade for three years in Japan. It was an amazing experience and made me realize my love of teaching.  Upon returning to the United States, I joined the ranks of Los Angeles Unified School District and have dedicated my life to serving the students and parents of Los Angeles.  I have worked in multiple schools throughout Los Angeles and have had the opportunity to serve as a Teacher, Math Coach, Title I, EL and TSP Coordinator.  More recently, I worked as the Assistant Principal at Heliotrope Elementary School in Maywood, California where we became one of the first LAUSD STEAM certified schools by the Division of Instruction. I have been married for 13 years to my husband Rafael and have two daughters.

My goal as principal at Sierra Vista Elementary School is to ensure the educational success and safety of each student. Working alongside the teachers, staff and parents at Sierra Vista, I will strive everyday to provide the best possible educational experience for each student who attends our school. I will work to promote a positive school culture and safe learning environment for all students.

I look forward to an incredible year ahead! I will be sending out information in the beginning of the school year. Please take a look at our new updated website- Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. It will be a quick and easy way to access information and view all the great learning going on at Sierra Vista.  I will be sharing school updates, pictures and information throughout the school year.

My door is always open and I welcome your input as we continue to develop our students into scholars and leaders of the 21st Century. Please feel free to stop in, call or email me to discuss any concerns, resources, suggestions, or ideas!  I am looking forward to meeting everyone at first Coffee with the Principal.
